K.L. Krishna, formerly, Professor and Head, Department of Economics, Delhi School of Economics, ranks amongst the most distinguished economists in India, and is widely respected in the teaching, research and the student fraternity. He is presently, Chairman, Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS), Hyderabad and Hony. Research Advisor, Centre for Development Economics, Delhi School of Economics, Delhi. Professor Krishna has overseen success-ful completion of over 40 Ph.D. and M.Phil dissertations, covering almost all important branches of economics.

Uma Kapila, author/editor of several books, has taught Indian Economy to undergraduate students for over forty-two years. She recently retired as Reader from Department of Economics, Miranda House, University of Delhi. Presently she is Senior Editor, Academic Foundation. Widely read reference texts edited/authored by her include: Indian Economy Since Independence, 19th Edition 2008-09; India's Economic Development Since1947, 3rd Edition 2008-09; and Indian Economy: Performance and Policies, 8th Edition 2008-09.
