Each volume of EDI comprises a hard bound book plus a CD Rom. Salient features include: analytical articles by economists and experts on contemporary issues, complete (fulllength)
reports and policy documents/updates and current at a glance statistics. To further enhance the quality of the content since 2018, it has been decided to make it a quarterly publication i.e., four volumes in a year. Each quarterly volume-now of around 320 pages includes policy documents/policy updates/ reports and around 12 to 15 analytical articles
(earlier each volume carried around 6 articles) devoted to contemporary economic/socioeconomic issues. Today, EDI is valued and subscribed by users across a wide cross-section of highly reputed organisations which include: government departments/regulatory authorities, PSUs, Indian corporate sector/business houses, multinational industrial corporations, embassies and foreign missions, banks/financial institutions, consultancy organisations, apex bodies, trade promoting agencies, state financial and industrial development corporations, economic research centres, management institutions, universities, colleges, and so on.

I find EDI extremely handy and useful as practically everything latest on Indian economy is covered in this publication. You name any report/document/policy statement on any aspect of Indian economy, you will find them in this handy volume. EDI is truly unique.
Volume after volume, month after month, it has contributed immensely towards disseminating high quality academic writings and other important literature on various aspects of India's economy.
Over a period of time there have been numerous instances when I have picked up and referred to one volume or the other while looking for some Report or a piece of writing by a distinguished scholar. Despite the deep impact of the Internet on our work culture, and given the fact that there is no dearth of available material, both in terms of views and research presentations through various forms of print and electronic media, a publication like the EDI continues to be a precious resource for providing at one place, some of the best pieces of academic writing and also important reports and policy documents on different aspects of our country's economy. It will not be an exaggeration if I say, I cannot
find any parallel to this publication. It is indeed a unique ready reference resource.

About the Author/ Editors

Uma Kapila, Reader (Retd.), Department of Economics, Miranda

House, University of Delhi.
Presently, Editorial Director, Academic Foundation, New Delhi.

Contributors

C.
