Currently, he is serving as a Professor and Chairman of Department of Fisheries at University of Dhaka, joined Agricultural Research Service of ICAR in 1976.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003eHe has served at the Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore for more than 35 years in various capacities.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003eHe retired as the Head of Riverine Ecology and Fisheries Division of CIFRI.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003eHe actively participated in research on ecology and fisheries of rivers and estuaries of the country, especially Hilsa fisheries.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003eHe has about 200 publications in national and international journals.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003eHe was associated with different international collaborative projects of World Fish Centre, Malaysia; IUCN, India Coastal Management, and Director, School of Oceanographic Studies, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India, is involved in prediction and validation of Potential Fishing Zone in the northern Bay of Bengal, India, since 2007.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003eHe has done pioneer work relating to vulnerability and impact of climate change in Sundarbans situated in West Bengal, India.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003eHe is a member of the national task force for Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystem (BoBLME) in
