Investment in Indian Agriculture: Macro and Micro Evidences provides a comprehensive analysis of agricultural investment, capital formation, productivity, and economic development in India. Written by S. Bisaliah, S. Mahendra Dev, and Syed Saifullah, the book explores the critical role of public and private investment in strengthening India's agricultural sector and addressing the growing economic divide between rural and urban areas.

Over the past several decades, India's economy has experienced rapid growth in the services sector, relatively stagnant industrial growth, and slower agricultural development. These trends have widened regional and economic inequalities, highlighting the need to prioritize agricultural investment as an essential component of inclusive economic growth.

The book examines international evidence on the relationship between capital investment, economic growth, and poverty reduction. It analyzes macroeconomic trends in Indian agricultural investment, including changes in the composition of public and private investment, capital formation, agricultural productivity, and poverty alleviation.

At the microeconomic level, the authors present detailed field-based research on farm-level capital structures, investment patterns, capital intensity, and the impact of capital formation on land and labour productivity. The study also investigates the factors influencing investment decisions among agricultural producers.

Drawing on both macroeconomic and microeconomic evidence, the book identifies important policy implications and provides recommendations for strengthening public investment, encouraging private sector participation, and improving agricultural productivity. It emphasizes the importance of effective investment policies and institutional support in achieving sustainable agricultural growth and rural development.

This book is a valuable resource for economists, agricultural researchers, policymakers, development professionals, academicians, and students interested in agricultural economics, rural development, investment policy, capital formation, and poverty reduction in India.
